How Can I Help?
Each and every contribution is welcomed and appreciated. Individuals or organizations can help by donating plants, landscaping materials, paint, playground equipment, sports equipment or hardware. But remember, the biggest and best donation is time. Your energy is invaluable in beautification of the Lehigh Valley's parks.
How Can I Volunteer?
Anyone can help in the Adopt-A-Park program. The goal is to bring communities together to beautify and maintain the Lehigh Valley's parks. Volunteers can include individuals, neighborhood organizations, family reunions, block parties, schools, church groups, senior citizens, youth groups, Scout groups or businesses. Contact your municipality parks department for a kit. The complete process is outlined in this kit which includes all the paperwork, safety tips and guidelines for the Adopt-A-Park program.
What can I do?
Each park has different needs. If a park is too large for your group, don't be discouraged. You can pick an area or project and individualize your volunteer activities. Your local municipality can give you a specific list for your park. Some of the activities involved are planting flowers, laying mulch, painting, picking up litter, removing graffiti, pulling weeds, caring for trees and maintaining sports areas. If you cannot give time or energy, supplies or financial contributions for larger items may also be donated. Please see the Pledge Form in the Adopt-A-Park kit.
What's my first step?
Decide upon a site and the type of tasks you or your organization want to do. Ask for an Adopt-A-Park kit from your municipality and fill out the information requested. Coordinate dates and needs with municipality personnel. Then all you have to do is dig in and get your hands dirty!
What Am I Responsible For?
  • Sweat equity! Most of the activities of the Adopt-A-Park program require physical labor. Organizers need to be aware of each activity and prepare the volunteers as necessary.

  • Organizations are encouraged to have at least two “clean-up” sessions per year. However, one time projects are also appreciated.

  • Volunteers are required to read, understand and abide by the Safety Guidelines included in the Adopt-A-Park kit.

  • Volunteers are required to have a completed Adopt-A-Park application form and release forms on file with the municipality parks office.

  • Anyone under the age of 18 must volunteer with adult supervision and have a signed written parental consent on file with the municipality.

  • Volunteers must abide by all park rules and ordinances.
